We are a small group of clinicians located near West University neighborhood with decades of combined experience and diverse specialization brought together by the shared drive to help and support others. Our dynamic approach to mental health emphasizes self-awareness and understanding from all life’s experiences to break free from the patterns holding you back.

Philip Young, LPC

Philip Young is a well-respected therapist with 20 years in the behavioral/mental health field. Working with older adolescents, early/middle-aged adults, couples and families, he helps clients explore and identify their true potential, leading to a more fulfilling life.
After graduating from the University of Richmond in Virginia and working on Capitol Hill for a short period time, Owner/CEO Philip Young, LPC made a major career change in the interest of helping others, earning his Masters’ in both Clinical Psychology and Counseling and gaining invaluable experience serving clients at other esteemed behavioral health clinics. With a deep understanding of what works, as well as what doesn’t, he decided to put his knowledge to use by establishing Dynamic Therapy of Houston, bringing with him a small team of talented colleagues.
His therapeutic style involves working together with his clients to promote healing by providing tools and support – leading them to insight and understanding of themselves, all of which facilitates change. He understands the pressures and challenges inherent in today’s demanding and success-oriented society.
Philip gained experience working in a wide range of settings, including facilitating anger management groups and family therapy at Travis County Juvenile Probation Department, serving clients at the spiritually-based New Life Institute in Austin, specializing in severe cases of OCD at Behavior Therapy of Houston, working in inpatient substance abuse treatment at The Prairie Recovery Center, and serving clients in individual therapy and intensive outpatient programs at Ethos Wellness – Lovett.
He utilizes modalities like psychodynamic therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure response prevention (ERP), acceptance commitment therapy (ACT) and solution focused therapy, as well as other evidence-based practices. Philip also passionately believes in group therapy and regularly facilitates various group sessions.
Some of Philip’s specific areas of specialty include depression, social/generalized anxiety, substance use/abuse viewed through the lens of multiple theories of addiction, and various approaches to sobriety. He also specializes in narcissistic/masochistic personality type and attachment styles, obsessive-compulsive disorder, ADHD, stress management, and life transitions. Philip has unique experience and insight, working with special cases of struggles surrounding adoption with developmental trauma.
Studies show the therapeutic alliance, clients’ experience of empathy, and a collaborative relationship all predict successful outcomes in psychotherapy. It is in Philip’s nature to place special emphasis on building a meaningful therapist/client alliance – establishing a secure attachment experience for his clients in order to guide them toward internalizing more positive narratives of themselves and others.
Jackie Perin, LPC

Reaching out for help when life gets overwhelming can be the hardest part of the therapeutic journey. Jackie strives to provide a safe and supportive environment, working together with clients to find more helpful ways of coping with life’s struggles.
Jackie’s hope is to help reduce suffering by guiding clients to explore their thoughts, feelings and behaviors to gain insight into themselves and learn healthier approaches to managing their lives and relationships.
Working with adults, couples and families, Jackie operates primarily from a psychodynamic theoretical approach and is currently a candidate at the Center for Psychoanalytic Studies.. She is also certified in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and has significant training in various cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) approaches.
Jackie has experience working with anxiety, depression, addiction, attachment trauma, identity issues, anxiety, depression, and sexual trauma in both the individual and group setting. Her philosophy is that client’s need unconditional positive regard in order to develop trust, and she works to create a strong therapeutic alliance.
She aims to meet clients where they are at when they seek treatment and utilizes a variety of therapeutic approaches that help to relieve their distress and create more adaptive thinking and coping skills.
